MATERIALS:
Students are expected to bring all appropriate
materials to class each day. At a
minimum this includes pencil, paper, notebook, and calculator. Students should have a notebook (minimum of
1.5”) designated solely for this course, with tabbed dividers for NOTES & WARMUPS,
HOMEWORK, QUIZZES, and TESTS. The following items are also necessary for
maximum success in the course: colored pencils, highlighters (1-2 colors),
ruler, protractor, compass, and graph paper.
In order to maintain the environment of our classroom, the following
items are suggested for donation to the class: 10 sharpened pencils, 1 pack of
college-ruled notebook paper, 1 pack of dry-erase markers (color is your
choice) and 1 box of Kleenex or tissue.
CALCULATORS:
I strongly recommend students to bring their
calculators (sealed in the original packaging) to class for confirmation of
model/type. The only model accepted for
this course is the TI-30X-IIS. Students
are encouraged to participate in Walton’s TI-Rewards
program. When purchasing your calculator
for this course, simply bring the packaging into class so that we may clip the
Rewards Points for the benefit of Walton high School.
HOMEWORK:
Students
should expect some sort of homework assignment each night. Homework assignments will be posted daily on
the classroom calendar board. Late work
will not be accepted in this class. If
an assignment is not turned in at the start of class on the due date, students
will receive a zero. NO EXCEPTIONS. Homework will be graded every day and grading
method can vary. For assignments based
on completion, you will receive a 0%, 50%, 75%, or 100%, depending on the
effort made. Some assignments will be
graded for accuracy, so be sure to take care when completing assignments. No extra credit will be given in this class
OFFICE HOURS:
Students can visit any of the Geometry teachers at
Walton for additional help. Please
consult the course policy sheet for faculty hours and locations.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES:
No electronic devices of any type will be permitted in the classroom. This includes, but is not limited to, cell phones, iPods, MP3 players, CD players, or headphones of any type. Students may not have these items out in class and should keep them in their backpacks or lockers for this class period. Any electronic device seen out during an assessment (quiz, test, or alternate assessment) will result in a zero on the assignment, a U in conduct, and an administrative referral.
CORRESPONDENCE:
The easiest and most
efficient way to contact me is via e-mail.
I check e-mail several times throughout the day during the week. Please note that I do NOT check e-mail on the
weekends or when school is not in session.
My e-mail address is Jennifer.West@cobb.k12.org. Students and parents are encouraged to e-mail
with concerns and/or questions.
